*note* frank discussion on breast cancer surgery and reconstruction
As a woman, Lauren Phelps has suffered the worst life can throw at her. The loss of her breast, the rejection of her husband, a divorce can she pick up the shattered threads of her life and continue?
Cole McGuire met Lauren Phelps through a mutual friend, his mother. When Lauren took a medical leave of absence, he wondered if he would ever see her again. When she returned to Teague and Marshalls, he made sure she was transferred to his office. Now divorced, he wondered if he stood a chance to woo her.
Can Lauren learn to love again after the storm?
Review:
After Lauren Phelps is diagnosed with breast cancer, her dirtbag husband left her to withstand treatment and reconstruction alone. After reconstructive surgery and going into remission, Lauren is offered a new position at her old job, as Cole McGuire's assistant. Cole McGuire is thrilled to have Lauren back at the office and has come to know her through his mother who also had cancer. Now that both of them are free he is determined to win her heart, to show her that love is unconditional.
I cried all through the first passage, which seemed like part of the story at first, but was actually the author's journey. Lauren carries the internal scars of her survival and rejection by her ex- husband while holding her head high. Cole is a loving, understanding hero who shows Lauren how to open her heart again. True beauty blooms in the heart, and everything else is just 'window dressing'. This is one you gotta read and your purchase supports a wonderful cause. I commend the author for having the courage to face her personal fears and trial and for writing this story. Ms. O'Berry's work is always fluent and incredibly moving. Needless to say, Stormy Weather, is just one more reason to keep her at the top of my list.

Lauren Phelps has had some drastic changes come about in her life due to her battle with breast cancer.
Cole McGuire knows how much help Lauren was to his mother when she was recovering from cancer herself.
Now Lauren is back and ready to work. Cole is her new boss and the intriguing man seems to be everywhere she is. He wants to start building a relationship with her but she is afraid. Will Cole see past her changed body to the woman she has become?
Stormy Weather is a poignant story about a woman and her recovery not only from breast cancer but from a debilitating marriage to a man who only looks skin deep. Nancy O'Berry shows the reader what Lauren must overcome emotionally to feel love again in this very touching tale. Cole is very caring and understanding, and yet is also portrayed as not quite grasping what Lauren feels, which really creates a bit of a conflict between the two main characters, giving this story more realism than it already has. Whether you read this because you love the author's work or for the romance, you will not be disappointed in any way!

Deb's Review: Stormy Weather is a wonderful, touching book that had this reviewer reaching for the tissue box, cheering Lauren and Cole along. Nancy O'Berry is absolutely brilliant! She has captured just the right emotion for this book to draw the readers in. I, as a granddaughter of an amazing lady who dealt with breast cancer and won, am thankful for this book. Nancy O'Berry gives a story that depicts the real life of breast cancer, along with the ups and downs.
More importantly, it shows us love can endure anything as long as it's lasting.Lauren's character is one that drew me to her. She felt real to me, like I could sit down and chat with her. As she took off the bandages, I felt her nervousness at what she would find. Do you ever get a catch in your breath knowing that something important is about to happen? That is what this moment felt like. Cole, sweet Cole, we need hundreds of this man in the real world. His compassion and charisma drew him to me, as well as his lighter side. He was easy to bond with and had a laid back feel to him. The second level characters—oh my goodness—I truly loved them! They helped keep this story flowing and fun. Breast cancer is serious business; we all need a little fun to balance out the scale of life.
In Stormy Weather you will find many things: an amazing plot line, characters you can connect with and unbelievable love stories, old and new. This is just one more example why Nancy O'Berry is not an author to be missed. She brings light and heart into her books as well as steamy passion. If you're looking for a short heart warming story, this book is a must for you. The Foreword by Emma Harding at the start of this book is definitely worth reading.

Nancy O'Berry takes a subject that instills fear into many, and turns it into a powerful, charming and touching story. Unusual in a short story, her forward takes us through the experience of finding a lump in your breast and the subsequent appointments and treatments with her doctor. By the time the story begins the reader is fully in tune with Lauren Phelps, in a way many who are fortunate enough not to have experienced such trauma, would otherwise find hard to understand fully.
When Cole McGuire, son of the company founder, enters a room all the female hearts start to flutter, their eyes to turn dreamy, and their brains to turn to mush, so when he turns up to escort Lauren Phelps to her new office, it is to the whispered sighs of wistful dreams. Ms. O'Berry creates a warm and loving family environment around Cole, so it's not surprising when he falls for Lauren, he accepts expert advice to assure he wins his prize.
Cancer survivor Lauren Phelps vows never to become one of life's victims but when she faces her greatest challenge yet, will she remember her vow?
Ms O'Berry's heroine is caring and clever. She is popular and you might be forgiven for thinking she's too good to be true, but you'd be mistaken. It is her strength of character that carries the day. The realism of her fears and her pain make her a truly believable character, and has the reader rooting for her. She certainly had me rooting for her!
It is a story that reminds us that there are thousands of women out there, like Lauren, getting on with their lives as winners. And that for many , like Lauren, there is the right 'strong' man who is ready and willing to walk by their side through life. This is a very moving story, and one I am glad I was fortunate enough to read.
